Serena Williams, Celebrity Style Icon (And Fashion Designer To Royalty)

She’s one of the best tennis players the world has ever seen. With 23 Grand Slam singles to her name, Serena Williams has been ranked No. 1 in singles by The Women’s Tennis Association eight times, a position she held onto for 319 weeks.

But Ms. Williams is almost as well known for her fashion sense, both on and off the court. As she once wrote, “I knew I had two loves – tennis and fashion – and had to find a way to make them coexist. Never stop believing in yourself, you’re worth it.” While she’s playing she’s more likely to wear a form-fitting bodysuit, knee-high boots, or a fashion-forward ballet inspired tutu than a boring all-white ensemble. And off the court, anything goes. Williams is certainly not one to shy away from bold looks that make a statement.

Williams’ clothing line, “Serena,” reflects the tennis star’s attitude toward fashion. “My designs are inspired by strong, sexy, sophisticated, sassy, sure, smart, stylish, silly, and spontaneous women who are living their best lives, or making it up as they go—kinda like me,” she says on her website.

The fashion line is a celebrity favorite. One of Williams’ best friends is Duchess Meghan Markle, who was spotted in a  jacket called the “boss blazer” while on her official tour of Australia in October. Williams posted a photo of the Duchess to her Instagram account along with the caption, “’The face you make when you and Meghan have matching @serena blazers #BeSeenBeHeard.’” The blazer sold out within hours.
